Roy Fleming was my best friend and mentor and urged me to join the (then, 1975) Union Rod and Gun Club. We attended regularly and enjoyed trap shooting mostly. Tom Holly, Roy and I enjoyed pheasant, duck and turkey hunting and fished together too. I stood as Casting Chairman and coached and scored the club events at Lakeview Park in Oshawa. I also chaired the annual “Weed Drag” fishing competition on Lake Scugog and judged the weigh-in, awarding prizes to all contestants. Roy, Tom, Paul and Sharon and all members had a vision of what this club could become and with our dutiful leaders and chair people they have exceeded expectations. We all should be proud of membership privilege in this organization. We are here for you!
